The Central Market, locally known as Pasar Payang, is located by the Terengganu River and is one of the most popular tourist spots in Kuala Terengganu. Housed in a modern building, it offers visitors a variety of traditional handicrafts such as batik, silk, songket, brocade and brassware.

Batik, sutera , songket. You can get those here — might as well choose PPA 35 (Ainon Songket) because the price is very reasonable compared to others ????????
When you want to shop for keropok , do so at the ground floor of pasar payang. Go to km16 to buy cheapest keropok at rm5 for one packet! Sata, pulut panggang ikang and otak otak , a must try.
All stalls are selling the same goodies but can found groceries with cheap price here! Second floor selling clothes and have food court

Fresh veggies and produce (keropok mostly) on the grnd flr. 1st flr are mostly cloth , souvenirs, traditional knives and baking brass moulds. Try food from the 2nd stall & stall no. 19/20 (Mee sup)

Good place for varieties and choices, but not for the price as you can get the same item for even half of the price elsewhere..and the sellers here should put more smile on their faces

You can get batik which are made by hand or the modern one using machine...walk around n survey the price b4 buy bcoz most of the stalls sell the same things & quality.

Pasar Payang has to stay, but the building has got to go. Come on, leaking sewage, old wooden structures and wiring system, and appendages built as afterthought. It is about time.
In serious need of refurbishment though its 2014. Such an icon, Terengganu version of Central Market will lift the image to the world.
Plentiful of dried & wet traditional foods of Terengganu such as keropok , dodol, gula melaka and etc. 2nd floor got lots of shops selling batik and songket stuff. Do bargain for best prices. Please br

I dint have any suggestion. Coming here, from Sabah, pening! Too many choices. Hehe. Serunding,keropok ikan, jajan, baju batik, kain pasang. Dtg Terengganu, wajib singgah ok?
If u want to try the food court at 1st floor make sure u hv a local person along. Unless u x mind being adventurous on the taste and them screwing ur order!
Be sure to check prices from a few shops before buying so that u get the best deal..
Government going to replace this old eyesore pasar payang with a mix development comprise of brandnew market and a hotel right on top...
If you are here for the first time, I can guarantee that you will get lost...!

i discovered one of malaysia best cendol sold around here. 2 bucks per cup
New location. More convenient. But during weekend or public holidays traffic quite bad here.

Food court lousy n bloody hot. Operator fail to maintain hygiene. Not a single celing fan operational. Purposely I think to cut electricity.
