These are Columbia Mammoths, named after Christopher Columbus since they were found in the Americas, not Wooly Mammoths. The Ice Age frost ended near KS and the weather was more mild in this area.
Enter building with filtered air to preserve the excavated remains of the mammoths. Ranger has a wide knowledge of the site to share with visitors.
Very good tour / museum . The dig site is very raw so it's a great learning experience

Cost $7.00 to get in for adults/students. $5.00 for kids. It's a unique thing to go see. Not much to do outside of seeing the mammoths currently, but they are working on it...
