The walled garden is in the grounds of the former manor, Birkenshaw house. It was planned and planted by Walter Crum, as part of the program of landscaping in the estate undertaken between 1852-1893.

The Shangrila chinese restaurant by the Garden Centre- hard to communicate due to language barrier therefore got many orders wrong. Food was good.
