The Kids playground is great here. Come take a quiet hike around the reservoir on Thursdays after Toddler reading from 10:55am to 11:25am at the Lafayette Library .
Beautiful 2.7mile lap around the reservoir . Fresh air , forest trees , and plenty of challenging quick hills . Park down on the road and save $7.

Bring exact change, booth for whole day parking isn't always manned. The machine takes $5, $1 notes, coins only - no change $7/day. Short term, up to 2 hours, machines take credit cards . $3/2hours.
Park closes at 5:30pm after DLS. If you go after 4:30, you will not have time to go around the reservoir . Unless you run fast!

Probably the nicest picnic spot in East Bay right on the water. Dog-friendly. Runners & walkers paradise with a 2.5 mile paved route around the lake .

Usually there are a lot more people than you would expect shortly after the sun rises riding bikes , walking and running.
Nice place to go in the early morning when the clouds are low and hovering over the water.
Buy an annual parking pass . It supports the Reservoir , and makes it very easy to get in and park , any time.
