The lavender mint tea is sweet and refreshing, a must try. The raspberry chocolate soufflé is heavenly, served at the perfect temperature. Only downside of this place is that they accept cash only .
Loved their green tea smoked salmon ! Loved the greens, the sauce, the very thick toast , and the salmon itself. The ambiance was great, as well . Forego the team/dessert. Get the 6 seater private room!
Try this East Village Japanese restaurant . Order the house-made white bread , generously sliced and spiked with tea smoked salmon or red bean butter. Read more
Super cute and quaint spot to chat with a friend or two. Of course, order the tea (incredible matcha ) but don't disregard the food menu, especially the desserts and the tuna lunch special !
Their genmaicha and hojicha teas are my favorites. Authentic Japanese teahouse. Great food, friendly staff (who can always give a good recommendation).
This small tea house is the perfect place to go after dinner . Order up your favorite tea (we’re partial to the Dragon Well Green Tea ) and a Green Tea Cake Roll (if they haven’t sold out).
Excellent ambiance and extra friendly staff . Get the Chef 's selection dessert sampler to taste their many different desserts . Be ready for a green tea & black sesame overload.
Everything is good here. We got the chefs sample dessert . Added the strawberry Napoleon , sesame creme brulee & smoked salmon toast . Everything was delicious. Will be coming back asap!
Cozy Jap teahouse w/delicately prepared bentos , donburis , toasts, & desserts . Black sesame creme brûlée is the usual pick but my sweet tooth prefers the Mixed berry Parfait w/ fab flavors & textures
Mochi Mochi $9.00 is made with 2 different types of Mochi , and a tea flavor ice cream . Super refreshing and one of the best dessert dish I’ve had!
Great option for after lunch/pre dinner hours- opens at 2pm. A small but nice menu with daily specials/large tea menu. For desert , get scones - amazing! A perfect place to come with a book and relax.
The decor alone gives this place a great setting for enjoying some tea . The mochi they serve is the high class one, you won't be able to go back to the one you find in supermarkets .
Cute little tea house. Excellent (matcha oriented) desserts . Loved the seasonal chestnut and sweet potato parfait with Assam tea jelly !
Tea-smoked salmon salad and earl gray chocolate mochi - amazing. Get a Kago set bento box ! Be prepared to wait if you don't get there right when it opens but it'll be worth it!
If you love green tea and desserts , you must visit here. So delicious!!! Place is rather small so you may have to wait if you're unlucky.
Come here for a retreat from the otherwise noisy East Village . Loved the attentive service and unlimited refills of tea--try the Jasmine Pearls green!
Great Japanese tea served in a traditional way. They have a tea house inside! They only take cash and the toilet is the most complicated thing I have ever had to operate in a restaurant :) Read more
A cash-only tea house situated just outside of Saint Mark's, Cha-An has a dizzying list of teas , desserts , and bites. It's a solid choice for a date or an intimate conversation.
Serene, peaceful , with an informative tea menu and many snacks to accompany. Service is friendly , the teas are delicious, and the desserts ...The best tea house I've been to yet!
The tea such a wonderful array of notes, this definitely a place to get quality tea and escape from the world for a little while.
One of the best tea houses on the city . Don't just come for the desserts they have great savory snacks too
Get the tuna tataki donburi , the smoked salmon toast , and the sesame creme brulee . The tea is very good as well .
The Chocolate Mochi beats out the Green Tea and the Black Sesame (the special when I went), so if you can't decide, stick with the chocolate . It's lush & buttery, like a truffle .
Favorite tea/calming food spot in New York. Not over priced, authentic and genuine food, good atmosphere, what more to ask?!
Savory sets! Wild rice porridge , root vegetables , braised tofu , smoked salmon are underrated and delicious. Comfort food above the din of Saint Mark's.
Black sesame creme brûlée and black sesame ice cream ! Included in the Chef 's Selection Dessert Sampler pictured.
This Japanese tea house does an excellent afternoon tea service, and offers a peaceful respite from the city in the East Village .
Everything is just perfect, location, service, food, decoration. Definitely my favorite place in New York. Just be aware that it could be difficult to find a seat.
This casual , cash-only Japanese tea room is notable for its tea , but also for its desserts . If you’re not looking for anything sweet, then come here before 6pm and grab a seat. Read more
Utterly delicious matcha tea with red bean toast , a bit expensive but really good place
come here on a rainy afternoon. sit in the corner by the window. get one of the sets. order up a tea you've never had before. tune out everyone and read your book .
Best Japanese breakfast/lunch/dinner sets. Amazing creative Japanese dessert . Lots of tea .
Make sure to order a tea served "Gung-Fu" style, a ceremonial style where you get to steep the tea yourself several times to take in all the delicate, nuanced favors.
A little on the expensive side but the tea is excellent and their black sesame deserts are the best!!!
Love this little Japanese tea house. Their desserts , dinner sets and tea are delicious! Great date spot , cozy conversation and after dinner .
The food is gorgeously presented. Go with a recommended tea...white peony was lovely, red bean soup was earthy and rich. This tip sounds so tacky but believe it!
Black sesame creme brulee is my favorite dessert ever. The perfect amount of sweetness and not too heavy.
Come here to be well-serviced and eat balanced portions of tiny and cute desserts . Top it off with a deluxe matcha latte .
The Mochi Mochi dessert with cherry blossom ice cream is great! Ordered it twice lol.
Cha-An is flan-tastic! If your sweet tooth is kicking in, try the silky Earl Grey Flan and compliment it with a cup of warm tea .
Come hungry, the 3-course Chef 's Dessert set will definitely fill you up, and 2nd course matches very well with whatever tea you choose to drink for the sitting. Romantic atmosphere .
It's a good place but have gotten too popular - always a wait and you don't feel like you can lounge around for as long
The Strawberry Mille-feuille gave me a foodgasm... which I haven't had in a long time. :P The lighting and atmosphere are super elegant and cozy too.
Mochimochi, sesame creme brûlée , anything with hojicha are amazing !
The savory meal sets are delicious. My favorite cozy spot for tea and yummy light desserts . And black sesame crème brûlée is awesome.
I had the dessert sampler for my sweet tooth, French toast and pearl tea , everything hit the spot esp the ice cream
Great spot to catch up with small eats, dessert , and a great selection of tea and proper(!) brewing setups.
This small, attractive modern Japanese tea house has delicious and artfully presented sweets and laid back service, perfect for lingering with a friend. Try the dessert sampler .
Home of my favorite dessert in the City , the black sesame creme brulee . Lovely ambiance, fascinating drinks and desserts .
This place is very cute and it has nice atmosphere to chill with your girlfriends ...love their matcha tea ????
Great bubble teas with a good variety of flavors and option to modify sugar levels. IMO, better than Vivi's or Coco's. - Honghui Yu
Love love love Cha Cha. Try the lemonade if you want something sweet and refreshing. Lots of non-dairy options too! - Sara Jordan
Try Uni and grated mountain yam with wasabi and crispy toasted nori, Warm soba, pickled oysters and mountain yam garnished with cilantro and tempura root vegetables & Goma Tofu - JK
The mushroom buns are AMAZING. The ramen is pretty great too :) also try lychee soda. - Vinaya Vishwanath
Delicious dessert and super affordable. I just wish they served alcohol too. - Flo Flo
