A MUST see! The Ryōan-ji #garden is considered one of the (if not the) finest surviving examples of #kare-sansui ("dry landscape"), a refined type of #Japanese Zen temple #garden design.

Overheard a tour guide mention Steve Jobs loved this zen garden and had been several times. High on my list of favourite spots in Kyoto.

At first we didn't want to go there. There are 15 rocks but no matter the angle, only 14 are seen. Then our friend (a local) wanted to take us there too and we did go. It was so amazing, so relaxing.

Go early to enjoy the serenity of this zen temple . The temple opens at 8am. Then walk up to Kinkakuji temple .

Very relaxing space. There were moderate crowds, but it still remained very quiet . There's also seating.

Great place to wander and relax for a while. They make you take off your shoes but give you nice slippers

Look at the photo and take it in. Than send a charity the $8 you would have otherwise spent on admission

Treuly zen, aside from the hordes of tourists .

Spiritual cleansing. Mind clearing garden .

Hmmm.. for me, you can no need come to Ryoan-ji rock garden . Nothing much.

【国史跡・特別名勝】「龍安寺方丈庭園 」幅 22 メートル、奥行 10 メートルほどの敷地に白砂を敷き詰め、帚目を付け、15個の石を一見無造作に5か所、点在させただけのシンプルな庭である。巨大な中国の山水の世界を日本人独特の感性を研ぎ澄まして写した「枯山水」。最大の特徴は「水を感じさせるために水を抜く」ということで、水を見立てられるようなものを作る。白砂も大海をイメージし、岩は島 というより山 である。

ここに来て縁側 に座って石庭を眺めていると心が無になって、何度 でも来たくなる心境になります。 石庭の石を数えてみましたが、やはり14個しか見えませんでした。石の数は15個あるとの事。まさ『吾唯知足』の境地ですね。

Imprescindible en Kyoto. Además del jardín , no te pierdas la famosa pila de agua . Y una de las mejores tiendas de souvenirs que he visto, con montones de cosas chulas y auténticas , no te la pierdas!

訪れた日は小雨日和で開館(8時)から1時間少し経っていましたが訪館者は私一人で貸し切り状態でした。廊下の縁側 に腰掛けて暫く枯れ山水のお庭を眺めた事です。小雨のシュチュエーションも良かったと思っています。嘗て、英国のエリザベス2世もお庭を絶賛された由、兎 に角、心が洗われた気分となりました。

ここの縁側 に腰を下ろして爽やかな風にあたるもよし、部屋から広大な宇宙感を感じるのもよし。

虎の子渡しの庭で有名。どこからみても必ずどこか一個の石が見えないという…

見る人に解釈が委ねられる石庭です。象徴化された美意識を感じますね。

本当に心静か に、ゆったりまったりと陽に包まれてスゴスコトノ出来る素敵な場所です。

いつ行っても人が結構いますね。いつか誰もいないときに一人で鑑賞してしみたいな
