【国 指定重要文化財 】明治16年に建設 された「新潟県議会旧議事堂」。日本建築 に西洋の技法を取り入れた木造洋風建築 で、文明開花期特有の個性美と風格を持つ建造物。開館時間は9:00〜16:30(7・8月は17:00まで)。休館日は毎週月曜日、祝日。
地元巻町 出身の棟梁星野氏の手による西洋風建築 。議事堂なのでいたずらに華美な装飾もなく、けれども洋風という、時代のツボをきちんと抑えた建築 物。これがなんと！入館無料で見学 できます。
