I really like this station, and there is so much to do right outside it. Go see the tower lit up at night, then hit a cocktail bar down one of the alleys across the street. 🙌🏻

If you're going to Osaka take the Special Rapid train which leaves every 15 min. Journey is only half an hour

Incredible subway station , beautiful architecture and view of Kyoto tower!

It’s always really busy but it’s worth spending some time looking around the souvenir shops, checking out the views from the top floors or seeing the Xmas light show on the stairs

It’s pretty big, but since you can only take JR trains , it’s easy to find where you wanna go. A lot of food can be found nearby, a lot.

Main station connect other major cities to Kyoto

It's a HUGE station. Go to isetan department store it has the best food collection and desserts

If you’re taking the HARUKA airport express, consider getting a reserved seat if you’d like to avoid the noisy & crowded non-reserved car.

Both Japan Railway company （JR）and Kintetsu Railway company go to Nara. But, Japan Rail pass is only valid for JR company.

If you’re going to Nara Park , make sure to take the Nara rapid line , not the local one.

Don’t forget your normal pass and express pass at the gate. Left one ticket on the train from Tokyo and got charged 8300 yen for the mistake. The staff are heartless at the station.

Budget extra time. This place is crazy busy.

The official hours for taxi is very confusing, just line up with the local line , instead of foreigners line

駅の天井が非常にかっこいいのである。小学校 の修学旅行で京都に来てお寺や神社 を巡っても、京都駅 の天井が高くてデカくて細かくてかっこいい思い出には勝てなかった。大人になって見てみると多分身長が伸びた分だけ、近く見えた。

京都市の外観条例上高い建物は立てれないそうですが京都タワーの次に高い建物として清水寺などからも見ることができます。設計は国際コンペで行われ東大名誉教授の原 広司さんの案が採用された。

1番線が無く1日1往復の大阪ひだの停車駅でもある

関空特急はるかに乗れば、関空まで楽に行けます。

在来線はJR西日本が、新幹線 はJR東海が管理。改札口付近は高低差がある。貨物駅はここから西にある京都貨物駅が発着となっている。

観光 にはバス乗り放題のカードを買いがちだけど、電車や路線 バスがおすすめ 。乗り放題バスは乗りたい時に乗りたいものに乗れなくてもっ たない。

京都駅 の喫煙所 は北側のタクシー乗り場 横に１箇所、南側の２階にある５５１の隣のバルコニー に１箇所の合計２箇所あります
