An amazing refuge with a lovely garden . The only castle in NZ and worth spending an overnight stay. If so also book the dinner in the castle , just enjoy it.

Beautiful view , but perhaps not the best in winter, as you can't enjoy the likely very beautiful and well kept garden . Castle itself is just an old house, but the family story is interesting.

The history, the gardens , the high tea provided by the cafe--the whole experience was stellar!

Wonderful place to stay. Different from any normal hotel .

It's about 20km out of town and remember it's $27 entrance and you can see it unless you pay, not even from the outside. So decide if you want to pay before setting off.
