L'Orto Botanico è nato come Giardino di piante medicinali (i Semplici) nel 1545 ed è fra i tre Orti più antichi al mondo insieme con quelli di Pisa e Padova. Da maggio 2008 sono disponibili percorsi multisensoriali tattili e olfattivi per non vedenti.
