Fort Rotterdam was a Dutch fort built in Makassar. It was originally known as Ujung Pandang, named after the screwpine pandanus pal which grew in the region and was used for making mats.

Although they ask for it when you enter, be so smart not to give a (big) donation. For each museum in the Fort, you will have to pay 10k anyway.

FR is also as UjungPandang fortress is the historical triumph of the kingdom of Gowa & courage in the 17th century. This fort was built in 1545 by king of Gowa IX, I Maragu Bonto Karaeng Lakiung Daeng

The best place to visit if you want to learn more about Makassar’s history. And of course it's better place to take a pictures. :)

An ancient place. Nice to visit. You dont have to pay to enter this site. There are museums in there, you only have to pay Rp3,000/ticket to enter all of them.
