Impressive for a young hawker to be able to fry such a delicious plate of hokkien mee . The $4 portion is too small though (shown in pic), will get the $5 one next time.
You know a food stall is popular when they ask you to pay first and then give you a electronic pager for collection later and tell you it’ll be a 30 min wait.
It’s best to check FB before going down. In addition to closing on Mondays and Fridays, he often closes on other days and the notice is posted on FB; sometimes the notice is posted on the day itself.
Prawn stock is thick & sweet. Very aromatic plate. Enjoyed it on its own, with a squeeze of ljme juice (citrusy), & mixed with chilli sauce (spicy !). Real deal, complete with pork & squid slices
If you like your hokkien mee wet, then this great tasting noodle with fresh ingredients prepared by a young hawker guy will certainly appeal to you.
Rated #2 of 5 top stalls sampled by food critic Wong Ah Yoke for its tasty stock. He recommends the $5 plate as the $4 order is 'tiny'. Source & photo: Sunday Times
La pok (fried pork lard cubes) were lightly salted. Interesting. Not overly fried till it’s crunchy
Their standard $5.50 plate is served with 3 mid-sized prawns
Stall is tucked in one corner of the Guan Hock Tiong kopitiam
They use only disposable chopsticks & spoons
This stall is definitely worth the wait!
Awesome Hokkien Mee

Closes so early unfortunately
Only regular know this, you can ask for egg in your noodles. The egg changes the texture of the sauce and you get a fantastic mix of bak chor mee and lor mee! - Kenn Tan
Try the $6.90 lala soup, it's so sweet and good! Fresh clams that are big and juicy too. - Saudade
Hokkien Mee itself is one of the best I've had, but their prawns are puny, and chilli isn't the most outstanding. - Song
