Almost a mile round trip walk from summer parking lot to tree . If you have kids, they might complain! However, worth the walk. Stay and listen to ranger talk. 

The overlook is less crowded so don't miss it.

Don't jump the fence and try to touch it. There's a reason for the fence! Have some respect for this ancient redwood . Their root systems are shallow & may be damaged by excessive foot traffic.
