Terrific book selection, but it's one of the rare historic sites where you can't access the gift shop without paying the entry fee at the gate. If you're not planning to tour , buy on their website.
Beautiful view . Wonderfully restored. Great museum . Lots of re-enactors and demonstrations of 18 century military life. Enjoyed boat trip on Lake Champlain as well .
I really enjoyed the knowledge base of the people that worked there, as well as the chance to pick up a BSA patch for my sons that are in Scouts.
Don't be scared off by the admission fee -- although it's steep, it's entirely worthwhile and supports a not-for -profit.

For some reason Foursquare refused to place me here. In any case, guided tour is well worth your time.
