Very informative staff , giving us a great introduction to Maori art and culture. Lots of classic and contemporary work on display.
Beautifully designed gallery featuring Kauri throughout. Well organized with good NZ Art selections as well as guest features.
Very small museum but worth the free entry. The building is gorgeous. My favorite was the Maori portraits - obviously unique to New Zealand.
Wide-ranging collection with the hoped-for emphasis on New Zealand artists . Free admission . Cool cafe , with Steampunk coffee maker.
There's no permanent collection, and exhibitions change regularly. Gottfried Lindauer's portraits of important Maori figures are amazing.
The cafe has amazing toasted sandwiches , and the lovely balcony will be glorious to sit on in summer. Welcome to the new Auckland Art Gallery! Read more

Cool space and awesome intro to Maori art
It is not just an art gallery ... it is an alive art gallery !! Pretty good!
The Light Show special exhibit was good but the rest of the museum was pretty small without any real standout work.
Check out the architecture - what beautiful spaces they have created - love it!
For a building of culture some people should learn how to dress appropriately and get some culture prior to going inside.
Light Show is highly recommended
