Definitely do the audio tour or guided tour as there is no information posted. Bring water and wear sunscreen but there is a shop at the top of the old castle that sells waters and snacks if needed.

Pete Peters

Take water, hat, comfortable shoes and clothes . Don’t forget to take camera or phone to take amazing view of the city and Castillo. Also take the chivas named la corroncha tour guide very nice.

Jason Carrasco

Worth the trip for sure. Amazing views of the city . Souvenir shop at the top will have water and beer , if you need it.

Karina Lopes

It cost 17000 pesos to enter the castle . The history and the view of the place are really nice, buttons I thought that there were more to see.

Amelia Rivera

Get an audio guide or join a tour guide . It an incredibly interesting spot with so much history and great colonial wartime architecture .

Alexey Sankó

Great place to learn the history of Cartagena and while you enjoy the architecture , you get a great panoramic of Cartagena!! Beautiful!!

Max Wenneker

Cool fort with tons of history. Definitely get an audio guide , and bring water with you to the top.

Alejandro Patiño

The latest entrance is at 6 pm. You can stay until 7 pm and avoid the heat and crowds and have the castle for yourself.

Priscila Meyer

Start the day early. While walking to the Castillo, order an arepa con huevo and jugo de fruita from one of the street stands. This is fast food at its best.

Rohan Modi

Must get audio guide otherwise it'll be boring. The view is great but this place is more about learning the history of Cartagena .

Carl Griffin

Largest and strongest fortress built by the Spanish in Latin America. Ingenious engineering meant the fortress was never taken.

Steven Båss

We didn't get an audio tour , but just walked around (25.000 pesos per person), it was okay. We stayed for about an hour. Most are worthy are the tunnels . The view is meh, but okay to look around.

Jose Hernando

Absolutely fantastic place if you hire a tour guide , you understand the whole story behind every single construction detail. Otherwise you'll just be watching walls and tunnels .

Jason

Good views of the city , but definitely get a guided tour - there are no info signs!!

Michelin Travel & Lifestyle

The audio guide is worth a listen. There’s little shade to be had here, unless you go into the hidden tunnels . – Green Guide Editor

Oscar Banegas

A place with a lot of history. Don’t miss the cinema video clip of the Castle History !

i3klyngirl

Either go early in the AM or later in the afternoon when the sun isn't as strong. It gets super hot in the Castillo.

Michael Li

Great historical site . Get the audio tour - otherwisr you are just looking at a bunch of rocks.

Lane Rettig

Try not to visit on a day when it's 40 degrees and sunny (does cartagena ever get good weather?)

Dave Laz

Go early to avoid lines and heat. Be prepared to be accosted by street vendors.

Oscar Gomez

Go ahead and pay for the audio guide , otherwise you'll miss everything a there's no info inside.

Onur Alp Kankaya

Very well kept, but not over-renovated. Great job!

Amelia Rivera

Don't forget the sunblock!

Camila Miwa

Great sunset and city view !

Joachim de Ridder

The view und onder groundtunnels

Ninja Central

Early afternoon doest have a lot of tourist , but it's really hot. Late afternoon has better weather, but more tourists .

Zachary McCune

Apparently you can bring your own beer .

Stefaan Beernaert

Bring a flashlight to check out the tunnels .

Mayra Saenz

It's free entry every Sunday

Ed Ochoa

17.000 the entrance :-(

Blake Tellarico

Don't get lost in manholes....

Will Braga

A visita guiada vale a pena.

Rodrigo Marcondes Ramalho

Vale a pena.

Fran L.

Lugar lindo! Levem água e chapéu ou boné pois o sol castiga. Peçam o audioguia ao comprar as entradas.
