For security reason, Tiananmen Square is a fenced square circled by low iron grids with main four entrances – east, west, south and north. The square is now open to the public till midnight

Pay a rickshaw 30 yuan to drive you from the end of the forbidden city back to Tiananmen Square so that you can take the subway
Flag goes up and down everyday and big flowers are decorated for a month after the national day. People fly kite in the morning. But anyone remember what happened here not so long ago?

You will stop for a while before go to Forbidden City . So many ppl take pic in this square, there are statue in the middle. But tbh, I don’t go around this site bcs so hot at noon.
Hurry up and get here before 6pm, they close it for security reasons. BTW, pretty crowded but 90% are policemen. Check the CCTV everywhere!!!

Most of nearby museums are closed on Mondays, including the mausoleum of Mao and the forbidden city . The National museum is free of charge but bring your passport for control check.

I have been here for a few times. But never seen the flag raising ceremony ! It is about 7:00 am everyday, but my flight is 7:40am . What a pity!

Funny place for a foreigner as many of the Chinese tourists want to take photos with you. I even had someone handing over a little kid to me to hold for a photo. A bit strange but funny.
Nearest subway stop is Tian'anmen East on Line 1 - brings you up just to the right of the gate...and there's a decent little souvenir shop off to the right as you come up out of the subway...
Very crowded at all times! Suggest going to Jingshan Gongyuan. Pay CNY2 for the view of the Forbidden City from a high point.

Take no.120 Bus from Wangfujing to Tiantan park especially at night ~It only costs you 2 Chinese yuan to view all must-sees in Beijing. What a bargain~;-)

It's a huge concrete square w/a few monuments & a giant photo of the murderous benevolent evil dictator, Chairman Mao . Historic site of the June 1989 massacre. A must see at least once. Free entry.
Try to pass the image of Mao and continue until you arrive in the forbidden city ... Special price for students (drivers licence can do the trick since nobody understand English !)
