Go there for the history, stay for the fantastic view ! If you go in summer be prepared for a good uphill walk on sandy/rocky terrain on 35-40 Celsius! The explanation you get at the top is good

An excursion on the volcano Vesuvio is a unique experience. You can go up and reach the mountaintop, where you will be amazed by the breath-taking view on the whole gulf of Naples .

€20 will get you a bus ride up from Erculano train station and an entry fee. Beware, it's couple of degrees colder and windy up on the top, so bring a jacket in spring and autumn.

Great value for the bus trip from Pompei . Just €20 with a 1,5 hour walk up the mountain . Bar and food by the parking lot . A small store at the top as well .

You must book parking in advance and you must book entrance in advance - don’t just turn up. Go to the toilet before you arrive and print/download your tickets before you go;poor mobile coverage there

Mobile Internet works at the fence overlooking the valley. Otherwise the cafe/kiosk has a slow WiFi , and the people from the souvenir stalls sell theirs. 2020: Buy tickets in advance (Vivaticket)!!!

Beware of the non exciting 3/4/5G network. The best thing to do is to make a screenshot or a paper copy before you start the trip. You cannot reach the top by car which you have to park as instructed.

Go to the bathroom from home!! The bathrooms here were absolutely dismal. But the view was stunning and worth the 10 euro entrance fee to get to the top.

Buy your trinkets at the bus area, or see prices and barter up the mountain , Where they tend to over charge as no pricing seen. PS they say it's lava rock but likely just black plaster of paris.

The first part of the climb is VERY steep, be prepared! Also, if you take a stick to help you go up, you're expected to give the guy a tip on the way down.

Better to arrive as early as possible (ticket office opens at 9) to avoid huge tourist groups. Be ready to spend 2-3 hours

Really impressive. Your shoes will get dirty , but it's worth going up there.

Try and pick a sunny day so that no clouds would block your sight as the view is amazing.

Unless you're 100% sure footed.. Go for the walking sticks offered for €1 just past the entrance. While there's a path.. It's steep and gravely !

AWD minibus up the unmade road to within a few hundred yards of the top was fun

Take a bus to the hill and then go for about 30 minutes by walk to the crater

Make sure you got cash on you if you take a shuttle from the parking to the ticket office .

Public bus 3.10 per person. Entrance to Vesuvius is 10 euro per person. Be aware of travel agency’s. Kinda cheating ????

DON’T buy tickets to Vesuvius from a person who comes inside the bus - you’ll overpay 2 EUR per ticket (10 EUR from her vs 8 EUR in the ticket office )!

Steep climb, on a cloudy day it will be atmospheric. Was expecting lava :(

El único volcán activo de toda Europa y uno de los más peligrosos del mundo! Se puede hacer un tour para subirlo(auto + a pie ). Muchas historias detrás del volcán más famosos del mundo

Comprar el ticket vía online con antelación. La visita es guiada de manera obligatoria. En la puerta tienes que comprarlo Online y solo hay 10 plazas cada 10 min. Mejor no te quedes sin la tuya.

La vista desde arriba es impresionante . Es algo costoso para un paseo de 1hora pero se disfruta muchisimo.

Oltre al fascino di poter visitare un vulcano sull'orlo del cratere , si può ammirare un serie di viste del golfo spettacolari. L'escursione é comunque impegnativa.
