One of the finest Buddhist temples in South-east Asia. Stands majestically on a hill in Air Itam, this temple built in tiers culminates the beautifully crafted ''Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas''. There are many souvenir shops leading up to the temple which offers good buys.
Jalan Balik Pulau 11500 Air Itam , Pulau Pinang Malaysia
Most beautiful temple I have seen. This temple sits on a hill filled with trees and green. It is a beauty from afar but once u step inside to the diff sections u will see even more beautiful pieces.
Grab an assam laksa at the base, explore the wet market and then continue up the stairs for some great scenic views , the Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas and Guan Yin (goddess of mercy ) statue .
The two things to see here are the Pagoda of 10,000 Buddhas (made in Chinese, Burmese and Thai styles across 3 levels) and Kuan Yin (Goddess of Mercy ) It's quite a climb, the shaded walk helps!
Visit in the morning to avoid the heat, definitely take the funicular up to the top, and walk down the (slightly hidden) steps to Air Itam market or other food stalls for lunch when you are finished.
Come before 5 Pm if you want to see the Statue . Because the inclined lift will be closed on 5.30 pm. And also its rm2 for the entrance to the Pagoda . Wear proper shoes . Lots of walking ????
Situated in Air Itam in Penang facing the sea and commanding an impressive view , and is one of the best known temples on the island . It is said to be the largest Buddhist temple in Southeast Asia .
For sure you'll be able to enjoy the breathtaking view & breeze surrounding with peace & harmony atmosphere here????????????@Kek Lok Si which is one of the largest Buddhist temple in Malaysia
this place is nice to explore, there's buggy service and funicular if you prefer not to walk, the view up top is pretty amazing as well . https://t.co/fMvw0ePMBU
Good view of Penang from up the hill , with the beautiful Guan Yin overlooking the scenery. Very hot at the afternoon and likely crowded during weekends.
Huge temple with lots of buddha statues . Very calming environment . They have a store that sells pretty souvenirs too
Give yourself at least one or two hours to explore. On a clear day, great views from atop. Don't forget the camera .
One of a must visit place for tourist especially during CNY where the whole temple is light up during night. Amazing view from the top
Take the car up the hill and walk down is easier than going up and down via the steps and foot.
Good view from the top of the temple . Remember to put your wishing ribbons as well !
Massive temple . Definitely worth a visit for the Kuan Yin statue and pagoda
Beautiful temple with a mix of architectural styles, you can wear slippers up
Good view of penang and got a beautiful statue of the Chinese goddess of mercy
The pagoda is well worth the extra 10RM. Its a bit of a walk up with a lot of shops on either side.
In one of temple buildings which you will pass on the way to Pagoda there are hundreds of people sitting together and reading holy textbooks altogether. Sounds magnetic.
Really a nice place as a tourist attraction
No regret to climb up the hill ... nice place n must see in Penang.
great place to visit. has good view of Georgetown too
The pillars of the guan yin pavillion are beautifully crafted, look totally scalable, dey shud make an assassin's creed map based on dis! XD
Crowded & touristy spot in Penang
Historical site . Huge and good view .
I would say the most beautiful Chinese Temple in Malaysia... The art and statue simply amazing
Quite, beautiful, and clean , and best view , and the air haha
Pay RM5 per person and there is driver to send u up to the guan yin statue . Rm3 per person if u need him to send u down. Instead, rm4 per person to walk up and take lift. Can check out at any car park
Taxi cost RM20.00 from Traders Hotel to Kek Lok Si Temple . RM25 instead if you want the taxi driver to drop you off at the Guan Yin @ Kek Lok Si Temple . Kindly note that there is no taxi at Kek Lok Si
They close at five but u can walking around in the area. Better visit before close because u can go inside.
Visit during CNY !! The lightings are awesome!
must visit the goddess of mercy statue .
The laksa near kek lok si temple is the best laksa I've ever eat in this 20 years
Quiet and tranquil.
Come early. Before 9am probably aroun 830. You'll see another side in the emptiness of the temple
Quiet , beautiful and calming .
Great view !
wow! amazing
Taking the lift to guan yin statue was horrible. The operator pushes people in to the maximum space possible. So inconsiderate. Boycott!
Scenery View ...
Very windy & very peaceful
The view is amazing, not much to do there otherwise tho
Lift to the statue works up to 6pm, on cny - closes early
An increase in incline lift facility. RM6 return
Come see the temple lighted up in all its glory during CNY
Same good place but become more commercialize than faith.
Try the assam laksa near the wet market ...claimed to be the best in Penang and some even said Malaysia.
There's a new Lift but its more like a Furnicular Rail to go to the top, great views !!!
Happy Chinese New Year !
Amazing...
This pagoda combines a Chinese octagonal base with a middle tier of Thai design, and a Burmese crown; reflecting the temple's embrace of both Mahayana and Theravada Buddhism. - Steve
The atmosphere, the view everthing was amazing, it was nicely decorated for chinese new year - Mina Esl
For tourist, to experience the old ways of visiting the temple, I would suggest hiking up through the stairway. - Raymond Tan
