Beer flight to figure out which seasonal or local brew u like (2 pints worth of beer for less than $7) then grab a 32 or 64 ounce growler to go to enjoy at home (also for a ridiculously low price.)
If you have to drive through western Kansas this is a good spot to stop. Food was good & quick, the service was fantastic & it doesn't hurt that they have some great, GABF award winning beers .
Hays is my hometown and I usually visit Gella's at least once if not more times on each trip home. I always travel with empty growlers to fill while I'm there. Lemon Ale is an excellent summer pick!
Oatmeal stout is excellent. Also had German here and brownell brown all good. Big food menu are food was great. Large portion of “cat fish ” fish and chips and very good.
The filet mignon with asparagus and mashed potatoes with compound butter was a delicious surprise. The 22oz. Blackjack dark IPA very tasty. The young lady was a bit nervous but the food held up.
This has to be the best restaurant in Hays - a bit off the beaten path if you are just passing through but well worth it. Get a cup of the sauerkraut soup to start of the meal. Delish!
Definitely get the grebble ...the pesto dip is fantastic!!! Beer wise..big fan of the raspberry wheat and oatmeal stout , of course. Lemon Ale was solid in it's own right as a unique tasting ale .
Oatmeal stout is wonderful. Wife got the filet mignon and loved it, I got the chicken fried chicken and it's hands down the best i have ever tasted!
Everyone who said the chicken fried steak was good are all geniuses. This place is the best. The grebble and chicken fried steak are spot on. Get the Lemon ale too, if it's available. A++++
Great micro brews ! The flights are killer and cheap !! Industrial theme inside and calm atmosphere do lunch .
To taste costs nothing so go ahead and ask to try everyone on tap until you find the one you want. Grab a "Big Slice" of their American I.P.A. if it's in season or even try their Liberty Stout .
If it's cold outside, get the pot roast ! So delicious. They recommended pairing with downtown brown, which I did. Great food, great brews, great atmosphere.
I always try to stop at Gella's when I am in Hays - love the atmosphere and the food! I recommend the spinach dip and the salmon burger .
The beer and food here are all outstanding! House made chips with the bacon horseradish dip is amazing
This is a pleasant surprise in the middle of Kansas. They actually have vegetarian options other than salads and the beer is decent. Melissa is cute as a button!
Great spot, great remodel of an older building. Happy we picked this as a lunch spot on our cross country trip.
awesome place! great pesto pasta and add creamed corn as your side.. worth it!!!
Schnitzelwich was excellent. Thick but still very juicy pork , not pounded flat like most places. Oatmeal Stout is great too!
Everything on the menu looks good. Lots of unique dishes. Lots of craft beer choices .
Swap a side for the French fried green beans . The beans are fresh, crisp with just the right amount of garlic .
Shoot for the local and German specialties... and the beer of course. Ask about their 2013 GABF Awards! Congratulations!
Definitely try the schnitzelwich and spend the extra change to have the garlic fries !
I got the chicken fried chicken and it was delicious! Order kettle chips with it to dip in the creamed corn .
Beer is great, food is good, service is hit or miss. Sometimes service is attentive and great, other times, you will wait 15 min for even water... Then walk out without water (or any acknowledgement).
Drink the oatmeal stout already. It's flavorful and smooth and it makes Guinness look like cheap Coors.
My husband loves the schnitzlewitch sandwich . I like the Tiger sandwich . And yes, get some grebble !
The French Toast Brûlée is the best thing I've ever tasted, pure happiness.
Sample as many brews as you can, and must get the garlic fries .
Regardless of the weekday, get today's special. The Chef is amazing, and the staff is the friendliest. Cost is most affordable too. Gella's? What a Midwestern gem!
Serious not going to lie.. The turkey panini is EPIC! Get it with the Lemon Ale and horseradish dip . Yum best I've ever had.
Really good food and craft beers on tap .
Nice, classy , pleasant surprise. Great stop halfway across America.
Sausage is excellent. The restaurant is poorly ventilated, however, which made it hard to enjoy above the grease smell.
The creamed spinach with the salmon burger is quite tasty!
Great atmosphere and service. Visited from CO and we were pleasantly surprised.
Excellent beers ! nice atmosphere, delicious and healthy food , friendly customers :)
Best beer in western Kansas, and really good food. This place is unexpected in the middle of Kansas.....
Seriously one of the best restaurants in Hays . The Chicken Fried Steak is TO DIE FOR!
Gotta have the sauerkraut soup !
Great beer and tasty food.
The beer is great
The American Brown is awesome. Also the best guacamole in town !
The Chicken Pesto Pasta is sooooooooo good!!!!! Yum!!!
Steak is fantastic!
If you are on a road trip, eat here. You don't want to go to McDonald's again
BIG place. Request to sit in bar area.
Oatmeal Stout was outstanding!
Garlic fries trump all other fries .
Steak = awesome- beer = awesomer.
Pesto Chicken -- Love it!!!
