Minster Yard York North Yorkshire YO1 7HH United Kingdom
Amazing on the inside. If you're an atheist and don't want to be giving cash to the religion, the entrance fee goes to maintaining it as a historical site . The guided tours are fun and are worth it.
Beautiful church inside and out - definitely a must to see. Compared to all of the decorative churches from around Europe. Always a queue but it moves fast. Landmark scenic
Undercroft refurb is well worth a visit and is included in general admission. Great views from the top of the tower (up 280+ steps) although it's an extra £5 on the standard admission price.
One of the most beautiful gothic cathedrals in the world. The best way to appreciate it is to come to Mass or Choral Evensong - just ask the guides for times.
Beautiful cathedral inside and out, made out of limestone. Second largest Gothic cathedral in Northern Europe apparently. Stain glass windows are breath taking. Also don't miss The Kings Screen
Beautiful architecture ... And Constantine the Great was crowned emperor nearby! Awesome place for history buffs!
The Police Roll of Honour Trust Board of Trustees were here for National Police Memorial Day 2012. The Minster is incredible and an amazing setting for our national tribute to our fallen.
Years I been back and too. To York Minster I got some very old images I took of the 1984 fire when lightening hit the roof. It was sad to see all the damage done that day. Well worth money to view it
Beautiful and large carhedral. Lots of people made a long queue in cold winter night to watch Christmas Carol there!
It's a must see in York. The architecture is impressive and much larger than expected.
The extra £5 to go up the tower is definitely worth it - beautiful views . The Minster itself is of course wonderful.
Largest stain glass window in the world. Plus amazing Roman museum in the basement
Brilliant architecture and impressive just to look at. Well worth having a short walk to from the main city .
Be sure to be at the minster at midnight on NYE-- an experience you never want to forget!
A must-see when in York. Beautifully preserved and guided tours are really informative and entertaining.
One word: gorgeous! The tour is really worth (even with kids). We enjoyed all stories the man told us.
The tour (with David) was worth having for some background on the architecture and the idiosyncrasies of the minster. Look out for the recent bosses on the ceiling, including one of Neil Armstrong!
So much beautiful history here. Impossible to fit in one shot. Enjoy :)
Go on one of the night tours - well worth it to see the bits that are normally closed. Go for the earlier trip if you want to hear Big Peter ring.
After the Minster, check out the church next door - St Michael le Belfrey - built originally as a chapel for the Minster builders. It's free entry and still a functioning church - lovely atmosphere.
Now available on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays! Book a special tour of the Glass Conservation Studio at Bedern Chapel for a close-up view of medieval stained glass under restoration.
If you are visiting on a Wednesday or Friday, look into booking a special tour of the Glass Conservation Studio at Bedern Chapel for a close-up view of mediaeval stained glass under restoration.
Lovely place , but we only want people who live here to see it ? No cranks
Visit the 'A book fit for a King' exhibition at the Old Palace (12p-4p, until 30 Nov) and turn the pages of an original 1611 King James Bible. Admission is free with your Minster admission ticket!
Can recommend visiting the tower, but be ready for lots or steps, not for the asthmatics !
Very beautiful. A must-visit. Entrance fee is required now.
Great minster, huge and well preserved! Perfect for people interested in history
Grand imposing building with amazing architecture . Should have buried Richard III here.
Pretty. Go in the morning for shots without humans
Beautiful but ridiculously expensive , £15 for tower and church !!!!
Great day out in York with the kid's!!!
Even if you aren't religious check out the evensong . Spine tingling music for free.
Don't climb the tower - opt for Clifford's tower instead! You want a view with the Minster, right?
Beauty of architecture
If you can take the tour . There's one every 30 mins just ahead the entrance.
For the best views over York, climb the Minster Tower. Costs a few pounds - and you need to be in shape for the climb - but well worth it.
Magnificent and hard to capture in one shot.
Beautiful expensive ticket
Stunning view from the towers!
Lovely Minster, but there's better out there.
Coming to visit the city but want to stay out in the countryside .Take a look at www.carrhousefarm.co.uk
Dress warm, it gets very chilly, particularly in winter!
Admission is valid for 12 months.
