They have an English menu, but you don't need it because you're ordering a Tonkatsu (とんかつ) set anyway. They give you a bowl of sesame seeds to smash while you wait -- pour the sauce into it and dip !
Incredible tenderness and taste. Go for the limited pork . Awesome restaurant ambiance. The restaurant has a small entrance, don’t despair! You will find it!
Not easy to find hidden among all the other stores, but worth finding for some great food. The sauces are amazing, but the breading on the food is perfect. not greasy, just delicious.
Very tasty tonkatsu served with rice , cabbage and miso soup . They give you a mortar -to grind sesame seeds - spicy sauce , katsukara sauce, yuzu and pickles . All very good!!
Go for the medium size Pork Tenderloin Japanese combo of different porks . Barley rice with sesame seeds , so good. Great table sauces and unlimited cabbage ! This was one of my favorite meals in Kyoto.
Perfect tonkatsu cutlets with delicious sauces, e.g. a rich red wine , apple and date sauce, and an exquisite yuzu salad dressing that turns the cabbage accompaniment into a refreshing delight.
I ordered the medium pork tonkatsu (the cheaper one) and one shrimp , and it was the perfect amount of food. I had fun making my own sauce. Arrived around 630, and waited 30 minutes. Worth it!!
The Tonkatsu is the best! The combination plate of pork and shrimp is great and for a good price. The sauces are nice and you get tea , miso soup , rice and cabbages on the side.
Superb fried Pork with huge shrimp , the source you manually grind yourself will add in some amazing sensation to your taste bud. Rice and soup are refillable, so eat till you drop !
We tried the pork , chicken and the beef . Absolutely wonderful! The free flow of cabbage , rice and miso soup is a bonus.
Great pork and service in a pretty traditional setting. It’s hidden behind a alley, took some time to figure it out.
Simply the best katsu you’ll ever have in your life. Both tonkatsu and chicken katsu are fried to perfection. Crispy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside; Incredible even without any sauces.
Amazing tonkatsu and Ebi! I couldn't have eaten two plates!! Entrance is down a long narrow path next to a clothing store .
Delicious katsu with a wonderful setting and service. This place is a must in Kyoto. Great experience!
Tasty tonkatsu !!! Liked the sesame seeds sauce most of all..great atmosphere!! difficult to find but once you do its worth it and just adds to the experience.
Really cool restaurant where you order standing up and you get katsu chicken breaded with cabbage and many diff sauces. Unlimited rice cabbage and soup
The best tonkatsu I've ever had! The curry was a great complement to the pork and the cabbage salad was surprisingly refreshing. The freshly ground sesame really kicks it up a notch!
Everything is good, all Katsukura personnel are very good and nice while attending us
삼겐 돈카츠 추천. 삼겹살을 말하는거네요 ㅎㅎ Recommend Samgen. It melts in your mouth. I like eating with salt instead of the sauce since I can taste the meat itself.
Authentic place for great tonkatsu . Try the pork and shrimp tonkatsu and enjoy feeling like a chef when you grind those sesame seeds .
Good place to have dinner in the market area. Tenderloin and shrimps are delicious. Not easy to spot it, check pictures fro users to recognize it. You'll find it in a narrow corridor.
This katsu place is hard to spot and more expensive than most, but the pork and shrimp were delicious and came with a full suite of sides to fill you. Clearly a popular lunch spot .
The best tonkatsu you'll ever have. Fuck the rest, this place is the best. Pricey though. But soooo dang good. Seriously, stop what you're doing right now and go, go go!
Hand grind the sesame to the desired fineness. 3 sauces: tonkatsu , yuzu citrus , and soy based. Good buttery potato salad
Excellent tonkatsu . We waited for about 30 mins at 8 pm. Spend the extra money to get the special pork
Very tender katsu here, one of the best... brown sauce will not overshadow the taste of the pork ...oishi ????
Ordering the cheaper tenderloin is just as tasty and you can save the money on the slutty egg and other tasty treats.
Great tonkatsu restaurant with free refills on all the sides rice , cabbage , miso soup and tea ! It’s a bit pricey but definitely worth a visit.
Wow, I don't usually like pork cutlet / tonkatsu but it was amazing! I will definitely be back. I had it with the vegetable curry .. Soo yum!!
Superb tonkatsu ! The Kurobuta pork melts in your mouth!
I love the process to prepare the sauce while you are waiting. Of course try the Tonkatsu is big and so tasty. Recommended.
Fabulous tonkatsu . I got the special roast. English menu available. Staff was super friendly .
Loved the pork loin and veggie curry . Yuzu sauce was my fave of the options.
The best Tonkatsu I've ever tried (and I have tried many ????)
The pork tonkatsus are pretty awesome, save your money on the wagyu tonkatsu , wagyu is still best grilled than deep fried...
Best pork cutlet I've ever eaten! Crunchy on the outside, soft and delicious inside. Will definitely go there again when I'm in Kyoto
Anything panko crusted and fried here is delicious. Get the special cutlet - it's a darker meat with more fat in it.
English menu and delicious tonkatsu — you can’t go wrong!
Order the famous pork chop and jumbo shrimp tempura set. Best in town . Also unlimited refills on rice and cabbages
the food is amazing! The best pork cutlet and curry ever!
Nice surroundings; great portions; enjoyed making our own dipping sauce (sesame seeds first! ????).
Get the large set (220 g). The tonkatsu is so good you'll want 7 pieces - as opposed to 5 for 160 g.
The best food I have tried in Japan! Great local experience!
This restaurant is delicious!!! Best food I had in Kyoto ????
Beautiful restaurant , great food, fun experience.
Should order biggest size (120g) , a suitable portion to feel the taste of super yummy cutlet
Amazing tonkatsu !
try w the vegetable curry
No matter what, everything is amazing and not greasy.
Off the main drag, down a quaint alleyway.
