Best ice cream ever. You have to arrive and sing up for a table or even to go, and it will take around 30 minutes waiting; especially on weekends. Attention excellent, and price is incredible low.
The raspberry sundae is my favorite! Add hot fudge to make it even better. You can choose the type of ice cream you want for your sundae
In 1921, Greek immigrant Peter George Poulos founded Margie's Candies, part of the rich tradition of Greek-owned sweet shops, which serves candy & ice cream to Chicago’s sweet toothes.
Omg everything is good here.. Fond memories of Margie joining us and chatting with my mother in law. She is greatly missed by all who knew her.
Margie's is usually busy. The people outside are just waiting for their orders. You can go inside to place your own order. The chocolate malt is the best.
This place is a Chicago must in the summer. Lines can be long, but usually short and well worth it. Classic ice cream & candies .
Excellent walk back in time. The food is good; the desserts great! Must try their turtles and NY cherry ice cream .
The 25-scoop Royal George ice cream sundae at Margie’s Candies is nominated for Best Kid-Friendly Thrill in our Hipsqueak Awards, vote now at timeoutchicagokids.com/awards!
Banana split is big enough for two, super affordable and perfect for an after movie date spot to cool down
When you're in Chicago you must visit this ice cream place, nice and historic. 1921
Their chocolate is deliciousness!!! I had a chocolate pecan cluster and a chocolate coconut cluster. I'm from Ohio and just happened to pass by. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! =)
Such a charming place. The sundaes are great... and HUGE.
Get rid of the cherry on the sundae . It gets in the way of the ice cream , whipped cream , caramel , hot fudge , and nuts .
So many options!!! This old school ice cream shop is great!
I treat myself to the raspberry hot fudge sundae every mother's day. I wait all year for it. I'm actually mad I'll be waiting 364 more days.
Have a side of nostalgia with your hot fudge sundae . Ginormous portions and retro decor get rave reviews.
We had to wait quite a long time but I ended up really enjoying the sundae with hot fudge .
You might want to bring a friend along. The portions are amazing huge!
...Order their hand-packed ice cream , or banana split ..too die for! Skip eating inside (cozy , but too small) and opt to grab a spot outdoors weather permitting.
First experience I had at Margie's candies was SUPER great .....love it
I wasn't very impressed with this place. Had a weird, mildew-like smell. Apple pie was swimming in melted whipped cream , which was such a disappointment. However, I can say that the ice cream was good
Ice cream is amazing and nice atmosphere!
The cappuccino malt was excellent.
Everything ????
Ice cream and ice cream treats!! Oh yeah, good candy too!
First time at this location, so cozy and vintage.
Get here before 11:00 pm to be seated.
It is a very small space ... Large parties are difficult ... If you have a large party I would get your order to go.
Get the Royal George , and then get Type 2 Diabetes.
Don't come here for the hot drinks, it's just milk & hershey's in the microwave. :-(. Icecream , chocolates & phosphates are worth it.
Try to snag a table by windows. Best ice cream in the city .
The Beatles and Rolling Stones stopped by to eat here, so you know it's THAT GOOD. (It really is...)
Root beer is incredible!
This place gets super crowded . Be prepared to wait or come at off-times if you want a seat. Otherwise, take your ice cream cones to go.
The strawberry shake was the best I've ever had!!
The mint chocolate chip is amazing! Ask for extra vanilla wafers .
Hot fudge and cheesecake ice cream is to die for!
Brownie Ala Mode is fire. One of their signature dishes worth trying.
Come hungry. Period.
