I have been here SO many times without incident. On Friday afternoons the area becomes crazy full of people leaving from prayers. Avoid unless you like massive crowds.
A few people were killed here and lots more stabbed, Khaled is misleading by saying its completely safe, keep your eyes open and constantly scan your surroundings.
This is my favorite place to chill in Jerusalem. Don't come here between 1 and 4am ... That's my time.

The comment that states that Arabs attack Jews is nothing but untrue. The eastern side of the city is safe for everyone and for all the religions.

Very interesting and center gate in old city
Here at 2:38 am alone as a Jewish Israeli American girl. 5 magavnikim (border police ) inside, I'm sitting outside. Completely SAFE!
You should eat Humus at Abu Shukri in the old city or Abu Hasan in Salah Eddin Street. Abu Hasan is better.

Lugar fascinante!
Portão de Damascus. Original dos tempos de Jesus
