Walk, don't get the funincular railway if you're able. The views are worth it on the way up and you'll feel you deserve the beer in the cafe once you make it to the top.
Picturesque view of the city from the terrace . The museums inside of the castle gives information about the militaristic history of the city and the castle itself.
Salzburg's landmark gives the city its instantly recognizable feature. Originally built in 1077 by Archbishop Gebhard, the castle is the largest fully preserved fortress in Central Europe.
The first place you should be visiting in Salzburg .. Enjoy the beautiful view of the old city ... You can going down by walk its interesting.
This was really fun. Go for the all inclusive pass - it shows you the interesting residence rooms. Walk down to the city in the direction of modern art museum . The view on the burg from there is????????
The view over the city is amazing. The museum inside the fortress is pretty interesting, not too boring. There's also a souvenirs shop, where you can get a nice surprise for your purchase.
Walked up the mountain pretending I was a soldier from the 1800s and ran out of breath real fast. Beautiful view at the top and free to roam inside the castle was a plus!
Epic old fortress on top of the hill in Salzburg! Worth going to the top and seeing great views of the whole city
During early December beautiful Christmas Market up inside the fortress. Glühwein tastes better and romantic ambient. Take a Picture if the Salzburg city from the Restaurant terrace .
Walk up, if you’re able, and enjoy the view and museums for 1-2 hours. The puppets are so creepy, but cool.
You should spend at least 2 hours here to walk inside, have your coffee and watch amazing Alps surrounding the city ...
The main attraction in Salzburg. If you can, walk instead of taking the funicular because the view is great. Be ready to spend 3hs in there.
Take the guided tour and check how this fortress became what it is today. Nice to check the interior of the castle and see how people lived back then.
Free wifi (super stable !) and fantastic views of mountains and Salzburg. Museum focuses on the WWI and medieval history, but is not very organized .
Great view over the city from herr. If u are lucky, u might stand the salutes - it is 10 times per year, i think. Festbahn ticket costs €25
I think it is the best place to visit in Salzburg. It worths every penny, even on a rainy day.
A very well preserved castle from middle ages which has A very beautiful view and museum .
I love the Salzburg view from up here. Such a nice town . Make sure the weather is clear if you plan to get up here.
Great panaromic view above the city and puppet zone. Dont forget to take your camera to cature the city like a bird.
A must-do in Salzburg. Great view , fun walk up the hill ! There is Stieglkeller on the way if you want to take a break
The Audioguide is really nice especially on the top where it tells you what you can see from up there
When we ask for a 0,375 lt wine waiter gave us 0,75 lt wine and we didn't realize it first. Be careful when asking for wine . Moreover main food and place is so good
The cafe on the rooftop is amazing! We couldn’t find a better view in Salzburg!
Scenic view from one of the biggest fortress of europe
Great view of Salzburg from the fortress , you could either walk up or take a tram ride up. If you have time and are able to walk up, take a pit stop halfway through for some local brew .
Go and see it, amazing view , lot ofthings to ecplore and the coffee was expensive and very bad up at the top of the castle ????
Reward yourself for making the steep walk up by having a beer on the patio atop the castle and enjoy the views of the valley and alps
That view of Alps... ???????????? its really worth going to the castle and its only 2,5 h by train from vienna!!!
You must watch Salzburg from up this castle ..splendid view ????????
If you're over 40 and not used to the 30°+ heat of a Salzburg summer, don't walk up to the castle . Catch the funicular for the steep, but probably worthwhile €11.
Unrivalled view . A steep walk up to burn off the sacre tort !
Quite a hike up if you walk but well worth it for the incredible views !

Awesome views and lovely cafe
It's a beautiful place but to enter, but the price is expensive and don't have discount for students or old people. If you climb the hill , the entrance is less expensive (around 8€).
There's nothing special inside the castle except magnificent view of the Alps and the city .
Nice view and almost 1000 years of history!!
