A great site to get close to a spectacular outlet glacier. Don't attempt to ascend the glacier without a professional guide. Glaciers are constantly changing forces of nature which can be deadly

15 minutes from Skógafoss, this is worth a stop. About .5mi walk from the car to the attached photo. If you want to go up onto the glacier, get a guide and do a tour !

I took a guided tour where we walked on the glacier for about 2 hours during winter time. On a clear day the views are amazing and you might even encounter small ice caves and arctic foxes.

One of the best experience in life. It is so amazing and make sure you get the chance to go in one of ice caves .

Við Sólheimasand mjög nærri Skógum er ágætlega merkt leið upp að Sólheimajökul (til hægri). Hér er hægt að labba uppað og á jökul nánast beint frá vegi .
